Title

The So Danca JZE40 Children's Jazz Boots are a traditional choice for young dancers who prefer a little more coverage around the foot and ankle. Made from soft leather with elastic side gussets and a split rubber sole, they combine the familiar feeling of a classic jazz boot with enough flexibility for everyday dance training.

Secure, durable and easy to pull on, JZE40 works particularly well for jazz, musical theatre, rehearsals and performances where a more traditional leather jazz shoe is preferred.

Made for Growing Jazz Dancers

The JZE40 feels quite different from today's very soft, low-cut jazz shoes. Its higher leather upper surrounds more of the foot and ankle, giving young dancers a secure, contained feeling, while the elastic side gussets make the boots easy to pull on and allow some flexibility as the foot moves.

The leather will gradually soften and become more accommodating with wear, but JZE40 remains a more structured jazz shoe by design. Available in Black and Tan, it suits a wide range of studio uniforms and performance costumes. Always check your dance school's required shoe style and colour before ordering.

Does a Higher Jazz Boot Give More Support?

A higher jazz boot can feel more secure and contained around the foot and ankle because there is more material surrounding the foot. This is one reason some young dancers really enjoy the traditional feeling of a style such as JZE40.

Higher coverage should not be confused with rigid ankle support, however. A jazz shoe still needs to allow the foot and ankle to work naturally. JZE40 simply provides a more substantial, enclosed feeling than our lower-cut stretch jazz shoes.

Dance World Tip

Give the leather a little time to soften. JZE40 can feel noticeably more structured when first tried on than a modern stretch jazz shoe. The leather gradually becomes softer and more accommodating with wear, so judge the size by the position of the toes and heel rather than expecting the upper to feel ultra-soft immediately.

How Should Children's JZE40 Jazz Boots Fit?

The JZE40 is relatively generous compared with many close-fitting jazz shoes, so young dancers generally do not need additional sizing up to create growing room. The toes should lie naturally inside the boot, with the heel securely held as your child moves.

Always measure your child's feet rather than using their current everyday shoe size. School shoes and trainers may already contain growing room and can therefore give a misleading starting point.

For the JZE40, choose approximately true to the measured foot size
Comfortable fit with enough room for most growing dancers

Quick fit check: Ask your child to stand, walk and point both feet. Look for comfortable, flat toes and a secure heel, without excessive leather bunching around the foot or ankle.

Dance World Size Guide is intended as a helpful starting point. Every child's feet are unique, so fit may vary depending on foot shape, width, growth and personal preference.

Traditional jazz boots can feel different from today's stretch styles – and that's part of their character. If you're unsure whether the JZE40 is right for your child's foot or dance class, our Dance World team is always happy to help you choose the right pair before you order.
